Adult female dog with prolapsed uterus (several days) needed emergency surgery

Adult spayed female dog with mange and bacterial infection

Adult neutered male cocker type – possibly beaten. Eye totally destroyed and infected – so removed.

Adult spayed female cat with eye injury – full of blood. Another vet said removal was only option. Hector / Antonio managed to save eye over course of 3 visits. Very grateful owner brought special gifts to Barb and Doctors.

Poisoned cat. Owners had tried to induce vomiting by forcing milk down its throat, then swinging in circles by hind feet. Caused neurological damage – Treatment & meds given – Asked to return next day, but as a no show it is suspected that the cat did not survive.

Total Surgeries: 22 dogs / 6 cats . Feline Leukemia : From 9 kits, 14 tests – no positives.  (1 at vet Clinic)

May 2011

6 month old male poodle with fractured femur. Under much duress, agreed to neuter same day.

10 yr old male dog – very rare form of sarcoma on both testicles. (larger than big mangoes). Dr said 50% chance recovery if survives the surgery due to poor condition.  After treatment he would require 10 post-op visits also, which the owner would not be able to do for financial reasons – given the circumstances the dog was euthanized.

Female adult Chihuahua suffered dog attack. 2 injuriesplaces, had to remove eye. Spay same day also.

Adult female dog with Cancer of the Cervix. Surgery & Chemo, spay same day.

Rottweiler puppy losing hair – possibly Mange. Dr says animal lacking in vitamins – will neuter at 6 months.

Puppy with gastro-enteritis – Rehydrate and given meds, to be kept at vets for 2 days

Neutered male poodle type – both front legs were fractured 8 days ago. Left front had 2 broken bones that required surgery, pins and plates. Right front leg was put in splint/cast.

Adult female dog with huge STD tumor at the entrance to vagina. Surgery to remove and chemo treatment to follow. Spay same day.

Total Surgeries 36: 28 dogs /8 cats. Feline Leukemia: From 10 kits, 23 tests with 5 positive results.

April 2011

Neutered male dog fractured femur. X-ray/pins/plates needed for surgery.

Spayed adult female  cat with severe diarrhea/ fever –treated.

Adult male dog with sexually transmitted disease (already 2 surgeries) bleeding from penis. Hector says only solution is to try 4 x chemotherapy. Will neuter on 3rd treatment if improving.

 

Surgeries: 25 in total 14 dogs / 11 cats. Feline Leukemia testing for 13 cats, all negative.

March 2011

1 yr old dog hit by car one month ago. Anti-inflammatory shot elsewhere. Fractured head of femur. Surgery to remove and reconstruct leg with muscles and tendons. Neutered same day

Adult neutered male dog no urine or faeces for 4-5 days. Severe kidney stones (bladder preventing stool passage). Catherterised. Has severe aneamia / blood in urine.  Meds 4 day hen wll test blood to see if kidneys recoverable. 

1.5 yr spayed female  cat. Complications one year ago after spay. Incision opened / all intestines spilled out distended belly. – internal problem? Dr says OK, but odd behavior is fear and aggression due to the wild animal entering  at night 

4 mo old poodle fell off roof, fractured left front leg – x-ray and splint. Will neuter at 6 mo old

Cocker spanial in labor – 1 live pup, 1 dead. Very restless, but no more pups inside. Drugs given to aid passing of placenta. Will spay after pup is weaned.

Adult neutered dog broken right front ankle. X-ray and meds, too old of an injury to operate.

6.5 week old kitten ate chicken bone, hasn’t eaten or drank for 2 days. Sedated and examined. Throat badly abraided / gut pain. Antibiotics, anti-inflamatorries and pain meds. Will spay end of July

Adult neutered male dog (surgery here) severe non-contagious mange – shots  for four weeks to recover.

5 mo old dog ate something which caused immediate severe abdominal spasms /paralysis in back legs.Dr says not poison Consult   & injection – owner given meds for home. Will neuter if survives

Spayed female dog hit by car – hip too shattered to repair. Xray, set in place and meds given.

Recently spayed adult female chow-chow urinating all over herself. – suspected fracture, not hormone imbalance – x-ray and meds.

...7 yr old adult male dog (we neutered) with severe hair loss on both hips and rear legs. Very thin. Bacterial infection on skin.  keeping at the kennel for 5 days to verify whats happening.

...older spayed female dog with huge mammarian tumor. Removed- impossible to say if malignant, but doctor said worth risk

...male dog hit by car. 2 fractures on front leg, x-ray and surgical repair. Neutered same time.

...4 mo old dog fell off roof - Paralysed from mid-back - x-rays and anti-inflammatory injection. Dr said that if no movement after 24 hours, then cannot save. Euthanised.

...adult (n) male cocker spaniel - infected wounds from dog attack. Overnight stay in clinic plus antibiotics

... 15yr old male dog with aortic valve failure. Body cavity filling with fluid. Impossible to treat due to age, euthanised to prevent further pain.

...Adult neutered cat with bacterial infection in the lungs

 ...Small parrot Cannot perch with bad feet. Vitamin and nutritional imbalance.

...Adult male cat attacked by dogs. Hole in lower abdomen plus severe lesions on both hips /legs. Bones inflamed on left, surgery and antibiotics/ anti-inflammatory. Neutered same day.

...8 mo dog  hit by car, multiple open abrasions

...7 yr old neutered male cat with severe kidney infection. Incorrect feeding of dog food, advice given along with antibiotics/anti-inflammatory and pills for 10 days

...Adult neutered male poodle with very advanced case of mange plus severe internal bacterial infection. Previously treated incorrectly for several months. Condition now so advanced that vet doubts that mange treatment will work and very little chance that immune system can be repaired. Recommended euthanisation due to extreme suffering with no guarantee.

Summary:  Feline leukemia tests -  5 used/ 7 animals treated all negative. Surgeries: 18 dogs and 21 cats
