May 2008
. . 5.month male German Shepherd hit by a car suffered lacerations and shattered femur. Treatment included x-ray and surgery and pins. Owner agreed to neuter pup when pins are removed.
. . Puppy with severe enteritis required medication and three office visit.
. . Old German Shepherd evaluated and treated for back problems.
. . Poodle treated for infected bite wound on its back. The dog had been attacked in its own yard two weeks earlier but its owner did not have the money to take it to the vet. As soon as the owner learned of LFA's emergency care program, he brought the dog in for treatment and agreed to have the dog neutered when it is well enough.

. . . Female cat treated for an ulcer on its back. Treatment included removing necrotic tissue.
. . . Poodle treated for fractured front leg.
. . . Very swollen cat delivered only one kitten. More may be inside. Required injections.

. . . Four-month-old German Shepherd cross hit by car had a shattered shoulder. X-ray and surgery were required and spay surgery was completed at the same time.
. . . Cat with severe injuries including brain damage from a dog attack was humanely euthanized.
March 2008
. . . Female with full-term pregnancy and septicemia could not deliver. Caesarian required to remove dead puppies.
. . . Female kitten with inflamed cecum x-rayed and treated. Owner agreed to spay at six months.
. . . Chihuahua puppy with fractured front leg required surgery and pins to stabilize. Dog will be neutered when the pins are removed.
. . . Adult dog hit by a car was too injured to save so was humanely euthanized.
. . . Large male dog with scrotum ripped during a fight. Surgical repair and castration was required.
FEBRUARY 2008
. . . Aged German Shepherd with a recurrence of tumors and deteriorated hips was euthanized to alleviate suffering.
. . . Medication provided for adult dog with injured, infected dew claws.
. . . Adult male dog presented with it ear almost torn off from fighting required ear canal reconstruction after dangling ear was removed.
. . . Juvenile female Australian Shepherd mix treated for two fractures of the front leg.
. . . Adult female dog required surgery for mammalian tumor and was spayed with owner's permission.
. . . Kitten treated for injured front leg. Owner agreed to spay at six months.
. . . 3-month-old kitten received treatment for a fish hook embedded in foot. Removal was difficult. Owner agreed to neuter at six months.
DECEMBER 2007
. . . Chihuahua puppy treated for life-threatening dehydration.
. . . Feral cats humanely euthanized as an alternative to the intentional poisoning that was occurring.
. . . Five-month-old Labrador puppy treated for 2 fractures of the tibia, which required surgery and pins. Owner agree to return pup for neuter at 6 months.
. . . Adult, altered, female poodle treated for injuries related to being hit by a car (x-ray and medications).
. . . Adult female dog fell off roof and fractured both front legs. Double surgery required and owner agreed to spay the same day.
. . . Very ill, four-month-old Dalmatian with virulent distemper was humanely euthanized.
. . . Adult female cat treated for severe kidney infection. Treatment included IV for dehydration and medications. Booked spay surgery.
NOVEMBER 2007
. . . Dog treated for injuries sustained when it was hit by a car.
. . . Dog hit by car was too badly injured to save. Humanely euthanized to relieve suffering.
. . . Surgery performed on an adult female dog to remove a large mammarian tumor. Owner agreed to spay the same day.
. . . Kitten attached by dogs had lower jaw destroyed. Vet said the kitten was too small to survive reconstructive surgery so euthanized to relieve suffering.
. . . 4.5-month-old puppy hit by a car. X-ray revealed fractured femur. Pin required.
OCTOBER 2007
. . . Cat attacked by dog treated for a fractured front leg. Animal Shelter A. C. provided free post-op care because the owner did not have a place to secure the cat during its recovery period. Cat was also spayed.
. . . Dog with infected six-day-old fracture of right front leg, treated. Dog kept at animal hospital until recovered sufficiently for neuter surgery.
. . . Cat brought for emergency care, apparently poisoned. Treated for two days before it died.
. . . Dog poisoned. Released after two days of treatment. Also neutered.
. . . Cat hit by car could not be saved. Humanely euthanized to relieve suffering.
SEPTEMBER 2007
. . . Devastating mud and rock slides in the lakeside community of San Juan Cosala displaced both people and animals. Lakeside Friends of the Animals delivered more than 250 Kg (550+ pounds) of dog and cat food for distribution to needy animals. Distribution was handled by Anita Strehlow of Anita's Animals. Included in the distribution is 79 Kg of food donated at the the Animal Shelter A. C. in Riberas Del Pilar by concerned neighbors.

. . . One-year-old female dog with sexually transmitted tumor and severe mange. Owner agreed to spay as a condition of treatment.

. . . Female cat with leg fracture received surgery to repair it. Owner agreed to spay at same time.

. . . Feral cat with severe injures humanely euthanized.
. . . Dog with simple fracture of front leg treated.

AUGUST 2007

. . . 4.5-month-old puppy with a broken hip: X-rays, splint, and inflammatory drugs provided. Owner agreed to return the dog in six months for neuter surgery through LFA's sterilization program.
. . . Cat treated for a large mammary tumor.

. . . Horribly neglected dog brought in for treatment by a concerned neighbor who agreed to keep and care for the dog if it could be saved. Treated for scrotal tumor and castrated.

. . . Large breed puppy hit in back leg by a soccer ball. Tibia and fibula fractured. Treatment included x-ray and surgery. Owner agreed to sterilize the dog at six months of age.
. . . 4-month-old puppy with fractured leg carried several miles to the vet by a very poor woman. Treatment included x-ray and surgery to pin the bones. Owner agreed to bring the puppy back to be spayed.
