Know when a pet needs a vet ASAP
|

Some symptoms that veterinarians say demand immediate intervention:
- Bleeding that won't stop.
- Hyperthermia (overheating)
- Extreme abdominal distress (panting, can't lie down, distended belly)
- Any evidence the animal may have ingested something toxic, such as
human meds, rodent poison, raisins, grapes, xylitol, antifreeze and (for
cats) lilies.
- Loss of consciousness or seizures.
- Persistent (6 or 8 times) vomiting or diarrhea.
- A cat that yowls when trying to urinate (which could be a urinary tract infection of life-threatening blockage.
