Know when a pet needs a vet ASAP

Some symptoms that veterinarians say demand immediate intervention: Bleeding that won't stop. Hyperthermia (overheating) Extreme abdominal distress (panting, can't lie down, distended belly) Any evidence the animal may have ingested something toxic, such as human meds, rodent poison, raisins, grapes, xylitol, antifreeze and (for cats) lilies. Loss of consciousness or seizures. Persistent (6 or 8 times) vomiting or diarrhea. A cat that yowls when trying to urinate (which could be a urinary tract infection of life-threatening blockage.
